One day after church over 35 years ago, a friend asked me if I had life insurance. “Of course,” I replied. I’m a responsible family man! But his next question caught me off guard: “Is it the good kind or the bad kind?”
At that time in my life, I was a professional racquetball player, raising a young family.
I had no idea that my life insurance was the “bad kind.” As in, it was way too expensive and would replace my income for only one year if I passed away. Meaning, within 12 months, my family would be out of money, forced into survival mode – living a life I would not want for them.
That fateful encounter was all it took. I was thirsty for knowledge, and eager to share all of the financial wisdom I was drinking in.
My motivation today is the same as it was 35 years ago: To teach everyday people how to manage their money so they can enjoy life now and in the future.
